At Alaskan Husky Adventures, you’re not just taking a dog sled ride, you’re visiting our home and experiencing the authentic world of professional Alaskan sled dogs. Our dogs are so much more than teammates—they’re family. We live alongside them, care for them every day, and couldn’t imagine life without them. Their happiness, health, and love for running are at the heart of everything we do.

We’re Liz and Matthew Failor, a husband-and-wife team with a passion for sharing Alaska’s official state sport with visitors from around the world. Our story began in 2018 when Liz, then a television news anchor, was assigned to cover The Iditarod, Alaska's famous, thousand-mile race. Matthew was racing that year, and what started as an interview quickly became something much more. (You can even read our story in the New York Times!)

In July 2020, we were married at our home in Willow, Alaska, surrounded by the very dogs who brought us together. Just two weeks later, Liz’s television station closed, and what initially felt like an unexpected setback became an incredible opportunity. Together, we founded Alaskan Husky Adventures with a shared dream: to dedicate our lives to our dogs and introduce others to the sport we love.

Today, we’re proud to welcome guests to our home and kennel for an authentic, behind-the-scenes look at life as professional mushers. Whether you’re meeting playful puppies, cuddling retired champions, watching our athletes explode with excitement before a run, or experiencing the thrill of riding behind an enthusiastic team of Alaskan Huskies, you’ll discover firsthand what makes this sport so extraordinary.

We believe the best way to learn about mushing is through genuine connection. That’s why our tours are personal, interactive, and designed to answer every question you have. We love sharing our dogs’ unique personalities, the care that goes into raising a championship team, and the traditions that have made dog mushing Alaska’s official state sport.
